A 2.5 hour Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra practice to nourish you this summer.
Our emotional and physical well-being means we need to balance the opposing energies of yang (dynamic/fiery) and yin (calm/cooling) in our lives.
Yin yoga is the perfect practice to complement a busy summer calendar, helping us to turn inwards and towards stillness to counteract the outpouring of energy that summer brings.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the season of summer is associated with the element of Fire, and the organs of the heart and small intestine.
When heart/small intestine chi is unbalanced, we may experience sadness, issues with our circulation, and feel disconnected and emotionally cold, and turned off from life.
Conversely, Sarah Powers explains that:
“When heart chi is healthy, we feel warm, nourished, and nourishing, able to contact innate joy, inner peace, and harmony, and able to build healthy relationships.”
This extended yin yoga practice will support the flow of chi through the meridians to help you re-balance the energy of summer. The longer holds give us time to drop into the stiller, quieter, reflective nature of yin - time to slow down and look inwards.
Towards the end of the practice, we will drop deeper into the stillness that this practice offers - calming our nervous systems, so that we can leave feeling more balanced.
We will end with a 30 minute Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) practice. It is said that 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra is the equivalent to 2 hours sleep.
Come and practice for 2.5 blissful hours.
