#AFINEBALANCETIPS: BENEFITS OF YOGA
We’re not currently offering hot yoga… but you can build heat in the body by doing yoga without the extra heating on. Also better for the environment, so come join us for a class.

WHAT IS HOT YOGA?
Hot yoga just means the room is heated above normal room temperature. Our hot yoga classes are based on the Vinyasa Flow style of yoga. We heat the studio between 34 - 37 degrees in the winter months. We have installed the latest Dyson heaters that also purify the air.
BENEFITS OF HOT YOGA
After hot yoga, we hear people asking, “I feel so good after hot yoga, why is this?”
WORKOUT
Hot Yoga offers the same benefits as traditional yoga, such as strength, flexibility, connection, mindfulness and stress reduction. The extra heat gives your heart, lungs, and muscles an even greater, more intense workout.
FLEXIBILITY
The heat aids greater flexibility – it allows you to stretch a little further and achieve a greater range of motion.
However, just like all other forms of yoga, it is important to be mindful and gentle with you body and not use it as an excuse to over-stretch.
SWEAT
Hot yoga is a great option for those who like a more intense practice and want to break a serious sweat. A deep sweat can open and cleanse your pores, leaving your skin with a lovely post-yoga glow.
HEAT IS VERY THERAPEUTIC
Heat can soothe the body’s aches and pains.
MINDFULNESS
Yoga bring a sense of connection to ourselves and others. Yoga gives us a way into the present moment: by combining breath and movement, we quiet the mind and tune in to the sensory experiences of our body.
It gives us space from:
the thinking egoistic mind;
the stresses and worries of everyday life; and
away from our habitual thought patterns / self-limiting beliefs.
Yoga gives us the space to plant the seeds of possibility and set intentions to enhance our lives. A Fine Balance’s hot yoga classes are a sanctuary for the body and mind which balance our busy pace of life.
HOT YOGA TIPS FOR BEGINNERS
Clothes - You can wear normal yoga clothes. We recommend bringing a towel for your mat to stop any slipping and plenty of water.
Hydrate - Drink water during the practice to balance out the moisture that leaves your body through sweat and breath.
Food – We recommend eating at least two hours before the class.
Take it at your own pace - Yoga is about letting go of the ego: if you feel too hot, listen to your body, take a child’s pose and sip some water. You can always step outside if you need some cool air too.
Stop if feel dizzy – We can sometimes feel a little dizzy when our head is below our heart. Make sure you take it easy when practicing inversions and always take it at your own pace.
Contraindications - We advise against participating in hot yoga classes if you have high or low blood pressure, a heart condition, are pregnant, prone to heat stroke, dehydration, or have adverse reactions to hot environments, nausea and dizziness.
Consult your doctor - We always recommend consulting your doctor before getting involved in intense exercise.
